Independent marine, cargo, and offshore casualty response for underwriters and P&I Clubs — from Rio de Janeiro to the U.S. Gulf, and every port between.
Picolo & Associados is an independent marine, offshore, and cargo surveying firm. We started as one person in Fortaleza in 1981, with a typewriter and a fax line. Today we are an employee-owned, second-generation practice with offices across South and North America.
Our work is unglamorous and direct: we go where casualties happen, we look closely at what went wrong, and we report exactly what we found — in plain language, on time, and on the record. We are correspondents to many of the world’s Hull & Machinery underwriters and to the International Group P&I Clubs.
“The first call is the one that matters. We pick up. We answer. Then we move.”
Casualty investigation, damage assessment, repair oversight, total-loss.
Correspondents to the International Group P&I Clubs.
Pre-loading to discharge: loss, shortage, damage, and delay.
Repair-period oversight and time-loss substantiation that holds up.
Towage, heavy lift, float-overs, semi-subs, JH-143.
Rig moves, mooring, inspections, decommissioning.
Structural review, repair specs, owner’s representative.
New-build oversight from keel-laying through delivery.
End-to-end coordination, document-driven and measured.
We attend across the marine and energy spectrum, and across the Americas. In a typical year our instructions span:
H&M · P&I · Cargo · Marine Warranty · Offshore — surveyed, documented, reported.
We serve the Brazilian coast end to end and the U.S. Atlantic, Gulf, and inland waterways through a network of staff and trusted correspondents — attending every major container, dry-bulk, oil, and project port across the Americas.
We work for the principal who instructs us, and our findings answer to the facts — not the outcome anyone hoped for.
We measure, photograph, and write it down. Our reports hold up under scrutiny — in the boardroom, the Club, and the tribunal.
Casualties don’t keep office hours. Our Brazil and U.S. lines are live 24/7, and we move the same day.
Tell us the vessel, the port, and the problem. A surveyor will be on the way.
